Training as a mining technologist

Oil and natural gas are an integral part of our everyday lives. But how exactly does the extraction of natural gas and crude oil work? The apprenticeship to become a mining technologist teaches you exactly that.The day-to-day work is therefore incredibly varied.

The training programme at a glance

Duration of training:

3 years

Requirements:

At least a secondary school leaving certificate, good grades in maths, physics and chemistry and a particular enthusiasm for technology.

Apprenticeship pay:

in the 1st year of training: € 1,225
in the 2nd year of training: € 1,350
in the 3rd year of training: € 1,475

Training programme:

Teaching of professionally relevant content by the company and the cooperation partners of the Training Association for Mining Technologists for Deep Drilling Technology (AVBT); insights into various company areas such as production operations, drilling operations, production and field development; vocational school lessons in a block system, which imparts a broad range of specialist knowledge in the field of mining technology

Vocational school:

Block instruction in Haldensleben, Saxony-Anhalt (travel expenses are covered)

Practical placement:

Rühlermoor workshop + oil and gas fields around Meppen and, if necessary, assignments at Neptune Energy's or AVBT's operations throughout Germany

Speciality:

Focus on workover technology

Future:

Deployment as a winch operator; with appropriate professional experience and further qualification as a shift leader or supervisor, further qualifications include, for example, shift leader (specialising in drilling and workover technology) and technician (specialising in mining technology)
