Natural gas production at Adorf Karbon

This brings the total number of wells in the Adorf Carbon natural gas field to six. In his speech, Managing Director Andreas Scheck began by looking back on the development of the Adorf field with some impressive figures: a total of more than 25 kilometres of drilled length, around 7,080 welds at three processing plants, and an investment volume of around 230 million euros for numerous measures relating to the field. “These figures do not stand alone; they tell a story of just how important this project is for Neptune Energy,” said Scheck. One thing was particularly important to him in his speech: “I am here today to express my gratitude for what has been achieved so far. And I’m not just thinking of the Adorf development, but also of many other places in the Emsland and the Grafschaft. Because we’ve achieved a great deal here over the past months and years.”

Alongside Andreas Scheck, many representatives from the region also contributed to the success of the event with their welcoming remarks. Sandra Cichon and Dr Michael Kiehl, representing the districts of Grafschaft Bentheim and Emsland, as well as Günter Oldekamp, mayor of the joint municipality, were in particular agreement on one point: they emphasised the positive economic boost provided by the project. Many local specialist firms were involved in the numerous measures relating to the Adorf development. Berthold Egbers, Mayor of Georgsdorf, praised both the Neptune Energy team’s effective communication and the level of understanding for the project within his community. In this way, he said, the village was helping to reduce Germany’s dependence on natural gas imports from abroad.

Anke Schweda, Head of the Site Development, Innovation and Energy Division at the Osnabrück – Emsland – Grafschaft Bentheim Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), also enriched the dialogue event with a keynote speech. She highlighted that the economic situation in the region is currently a cause for concern. However, new business investments, such as that by Neptune Energy, are important sources of encouragement.

Afterwards, the guests discussed, for example, the present and future of well-based mining in the region. A number of colleagues from Neptune Energy gave the guests a tour of the central field station, focusing in particular on the modern technology behind the Adorf Z19 and Adorf Z20 wells. As things stand, the two wells are set to continue producing natural gas from the central field station for many years to come, so this will certainly not have been the last site visit.
