“I work in the communications team at Neptune Energy and often act as the link between our company and a wide range of stakeholders. Our activities are technically oriented, complex – and are sometimes viewed with scepticism from the outside. Time and again, I notice how much we take for granted internally and how unfamiliar it can seem to outsiders.
That is precisely why it is important to me to engage the people around us. For me, this means above all: providing transparent information, answering questions openly and explaining issues in a way that is easy to understand. One format that has proved particularly effective in this regard is our site visits. School classes, fire brigade groups or local residents can come along and see for themselves how we work. In my experience, the conversations and direct exchange always help to build trust and break down prejudices.
For me, however, this responsibility also includes supporting the local community. Social engagement is not an afterthought for us, but an integral part of what we do. I am delighted that – not only in the south, but throughout Germany – we are able to regularly produce projects that create real added value. This ranges from larger environmental and sustainability initiatives to smaller social activities.
In the Southern District, for example, we support the children’s and youth theatre and the Biodiversity Days. In this way, we aim to contribute to social cohesion.”
