Georgsdorf. Initial tests indicate a production rate of 2000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd). The Adorf Z19 well is expected to increase Neptune Energy's production from this licence to 7850 boepd.
The Adorf Z19 reached a final depth of 4,170 metres in the carboniferous formation in the summer of 2025. It was successfully connected to a new natural gas processing plant located on the same central field station.
Andreas Scheck, Managing Director of Neptune Energy, said: "The development of the Adorf Karbon field is one of our most promising activities in the whole of Germany."
The Adorf field is already making an important contribution to the domestic energy supply and provides enough gas to supply around 250,000 households.
The field was discovered in 2020 and the first well - Adorf Z15 - was brought on stream in October of the same year. Five wells have now been drilled at three different locations to tap into natural gas reserves in separate reservoir areas. A sixth well - Adorf Z20 - is scheduled to start producing natural gas at the beginning of 2026.
Neptune Energy owns 100 per cent of the Adorf carbon gas field.
